PROJECTS
RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE, Cornerstone of Engineering – Spring 2021
- Studied the conservation of energy and the relationship between potential energy and kinetic energy in a series of mechanical transfers of energy
- Designed and simulated a metal track and a lever system using SolidWorks, then built the track by soldering thick wire and 3D printing the levers
- Collaborated with three other students to assemble various stages of the machine and write a report on how the machine took advantage of energy transfers
FIRST TECH CHALLENGE, St. Sebastian’s School Robotics Team – 2018-2020
- Designed and constructed multiple projects to complete various mechanical tasks for points in competitions: used SolidWorks and Fusion 360 to design a robot and create custom parts, and 3D printing to manufacture those parts
- Oversaw and trained a small team of students who helped design, build, and test both the robot as a whole and individual parts/ideas
- Managed and allocated a budget of $12,000 throughout the season to purchase parts and invest in equipment that allowed the team to approach problems from multiple creative angles
